G-Star RAW unveils new RAW Research collection with an exclusive launch event

Leader in denim innovation, G-Star RAW, will unveil its new RAW Research Collection at an exclusive pop up store in Cape Town from 20 to 22 March.

Inspired by military flight suits and reimagined as premium denim garments, this RAW Research Collection demonstrates G-Star’s unorthodox creativity, which is engineered into every piece.

The capsule collection will be showcased via a three-day immersive event (from Friday, 20 to Sunday, 22 March) that is equal parts futuristic research lab and concept store. The event will feature presentations from renowned designers Nicole McLaughlin and Tshepo The Jean Maker, with a special appearance by Trevor Stuurman. Guests can expect a slick exhibition space that speaks to the dynamism of the denim and performances by South African artists Dear Ribane DJ LAG, Gina Jeanz and The Other DJ’s.

The exclusive parachute-inspired collection features hand-selected premium denim and military fabrics expertly crafted to exceed G-Star RAW’s highest standards. Each piece represents the far reaches of innovation and imagination to create a truly one-of-a-kind collection that shows the possibilities of denim craft.

In addition, the pieces represent the best of hybrid archive design, combining utility and immaculate tailoring with denim and military green hues. Some key details to look out for include 3D, patched on utility pockets, army green metal accessories and parachute-inspired trims and accessories.

Innovative designer, Nicole McLaughlin, is a perfect fit for the event, given her dedication to reimagining upcycled materials – an ideal match for RAW Research, which challenges the conventions of what denim is and can become.   In addition, Tshepo The Jean Maker is making local waves with his intelligent, intuitive use of denim, and long-time friend of the brand, Trevor Stuurman, is known internationally for the colourful, Afrocentric world he creates. All three will be sharing their stories at the event.

Saturday (10h00 – 18h00) and Sunday’s (10h00 – 14h00) events will be open to the public while Friday’s launch party is for media and friends of the brand only.

Saturday’s schedule of events:

14h00 – 14h30       Trevor’s Stuurman’s RAW Story

14h30 – 15h00       Nicole Mclaughlin’s Showcase

15h00 – 15h30       Tshepo the Jean Maker’s Masterclass
