The new single “I Deserve”, was written for his brother and a reminder that no matter what we’re facing, that we deserve happiness and to start over and Lyle hopes that everyone who hears the song will have a bit of a life changing moment through whatever challenge they’re facing. He explains the inspiration behind “The Love Project”.
“The Love Project” was birthed when I first wrote “Love Wins” which is the title track of my album and was written on the onset of Covid-19 when I saw a need for a fun loving, happy song during the crisis that left so many saddened, lost and especially with the political climate at the time surrounding the LGBTQ+ community which I love and represent, I felt that so many people, my people needed a reason to smile, laugh, dance and love again.
The song was so well received that it made me head into the lab (studio) and write my “Afro Pop” letter of Love with the assistance and production of Carl McGrier and the Wiidope team who have produced for the likes of Jojo, Ciara, Tamar Braxton, Todrick Hall and so many other amazing artists. The album very much represents my love for Pop music and the love for my country and my South African culture as can be heard in all of my songs”.
“I Deserve” is the next single off my EP that can be downloaded and streamed on all music platforms and is a tribute to my angelic brother who was tragically taken from us in Feb 2021 in my home town of Johannesburg, and the steps I’ve taken moving forward, through a healthy journey of mourning his loss, taking it one day at a time and believing in the process. The void will forever be, but we all deserve to start over! We all deserver HAPPINESS, and the lyrics haven’t been more truer to my journey since he left the soul. For anyone suffering loss or going through it, I hope this song helps you through.
Do you miss home?
“Absolutely, more so with the loss of my big brother, being with my family and also my nephew Noah, who was born on 09/04, Beyonce’s Birthday (who is a huge inspiration to me and my craft). LA is great too! I’m so blessed to be a South African, like Trevor Noah and few others, who was granted an extraordinary talent visa to be able to live out my dreams and make magic in the US.
