SA’s biggest Portuguese festival is back once more

Lusito Land Festival is the largest Portuguese festival outside of Portugal and is considered the hottest cultural jamboree with fun for the whole family.

Starting off over the Easter weekend, the Lusito Land festival will kick into gear on April 20th and conclude on April, 28 2019; namely over the two weekends.

Hosted by the Lusito Association, a non-profit organisation, this ultimate annual cultural experience is about more than just having fun in the sun. The event features Portuguese folk dancing, community artists and top South African acts, as well as mouth-watering food, as means of raising funds for the Lusito School, which teaches differently abled children.

“The school has been around since 1979. Currently we have 80 learners, who all require a learning environment tailored to their specific needs.  The school was founded by Portuguese parents who saw a need for a school for children that are differently abled within the community. All the funds raised at the Lusito Land festival go directly towards assisting children that are differently abled. Equipping each learner as best possible for their passage through life,” continues Contente.

The Lusito Land Festival will be situated at 25 Cayman Road, Alewynspoort, Johannesburg South. The easy-to-access venue is a safe and central location with loads of secure parking, clean facilities and a family friendly environment with a fun fair to keep the children busy.

“This year with the assistance of corporate sponsors, and an even bigger anticipated turn up of patrons, we are looking at setting a new record in terms of funds raised and ultimately positively changing more lives and securing the survival and growth of the Lusito School for the Disabled,” Contente concludes.
