Tastic Rice and Laduma Ngxokolo create a rug to be auctioned for education

Following a much talked about and highly successful heritage month campaign, the spirit of Ubuntu and true generosity have once again come to the fore, as Tastic Rice launch an education fund for tertiary students across South Africa.

Laduma Ngoxolo, founder of MaXhosa Africa, and Tastic have created a one-of-a-kind Ubuntu Rug to be auctioned off, and the proceeds rasied from the auction will go towards the Tastic Education Fund.

World renowned textile designer Laduma Ngxokolo has lent his skills to the creation of this unique piece, the design of which was inspired by his limited-edition heritage collaboration with Tastic earlier this year.

The collaboration was built across the principles of education as a key focus for the MaXhosa brand, and giving back being a brand principle for Tastic.

The star-studded launch was held at The Venue in Sandton and attended by stars such as businesswoman Basetsana Kumalo, gospel artist Ntokozo Mbambo and others. The proceedings were run by Somizi Mhlongo and guests danced the night away as Dj Zinhle took over the decks.

“Tastic has always had generosity at it’s core value. Our most recent heritage campaign centred around celebrating the spirit of Ubuntu is testament to that. We have created this education fund in collaboration with Laduma to support students across South Africa  by giving them access to higher education.

Tastic has pledged a total of R270,000.00 to the fund and now, we encourage others to embody the spirit of Ubuntu and bid for this special rug, knowing that the proceeds will go towards facilitating a better future for many South Africans” Says Thembi Sehloho, Marketing Director for Rice and Pasta at Tiger Brands.

“The MaXhosa brand was born from my graduation thesis project at NMMU, so education is something very peronal to me” says Laduma  Ngxokolo. “The story of my success is routed in how someone demonstrated the spirit of Ubuntu by investing in my education, and I feel privileged to be able to contribute to changing someones life the way mine was changed”, he adds.

The rug will be auctioned online on Wednesday the 25th of November 2020. If you wish to attend, please contact Athi Myataza on athi@dnabrand.co.za

Tastic will be opening the fund for pledges; more information will be shared on all Tastic digital platforms.
