Theo Baloyi wins emerging business entrepreneur of the year 2019

On the back of winning South Africa’s Young Businessman of year award in March, Founder and CEO of sneaker brand Bathu, Theo Baloyi was awarded with the prestigious Sanlam and Business Partners Emerging Business Entrepreneur of the Year award at a ceremony held in Rosebank on Wednesday 04 September 2019.

The founder of the fast growing sneaker brand made the shortlist of top entrepreneurs and leaders from a variety of industries within South Africa .

Theo faced stern competition as the shortlist featured the likes of Lyle Malander of Malander Group , Mario and Hayley Roos of Lightec and Wynand Geldenhuys of Vectra Business Technologies amongst others.

“Too often we hear about the despair of the South African economic climate, how it is infertile and reaps no rewards, so it is wonderful that there is a platform of this magnitude that highlights entrepreneurs and leaders in this beautiful country of ours. This moves us forward into a narrative of innovation, excellence, precision and that of wanting to do more” says Baloyi. “Winning this award is humbling and I wish that this will spark a light in the eyes of every other entrepreneur out there that is either struggling to get approval from an investor or has doubts in their abilities. Unemployment is high, and we need to make the most of what we have”.

Now in its’ 9th year, the annual prestigious award featured entrepreneurs from various industries such as textile, hospitality, finance and education, which all boasted trailblazers that are hoping to shine a light on their respective communities and fields.

“South Africans are positively positioning the image of their communities and the continent on the global stage and it goes beyond rhetoric. Alll of this is supported by great businesses like Sanlam and an ecosystem that is working against the clock to add much needed innovation and job creation in the country “ adds Baloyi.

The awards were compiled in partnership with Sanlam along with their business partners and presents an opportunity for South Africans and entrepreneurs in general to stay committed to their individual causes and contribute across different fields.
